In late 2014, CA2RS launched a drawing competition called “Draw me a place to live” aimed at schoolchildren in the local area. Children were set the challenge of drawing a nest box or an insect hotel. Up for grabs was the chance to see their drawing come to life!

Over 320 children aged from 6 to 11 years old, as well a special needs class, entered the competition, involving 15 classes and 17 teachers in all. The representatives on the CA2RS environment committee had to sift through no fewer than 242 drawings! In the end, ten nest box drawings and ten insect hotel drawings were selected. Over the coming weeks, a local craftsman will follow the drawings carefully in order to bring them to life. The ideas dreamt up by the children will be placed in the Parc du Peuple de l’Herbe, Carrières-Centralité inhabited park and Coeur Vert.
