Preview developments for the Parc du Peuple de l’herbe have been installed on the park’s future active strip and are already illustrating the park’s theme of insect life. This 113ha recreational and landscaped park is one of the largest eco-projects undertaken by the Conseil général and its various partners, the CA2RS and the town of Carrières-sous-Poissy.

The park’s ecological focus and blend of recreational and educational features is reflected in the preview developments: three thematic gardens (insects, depollution and eco-construction) have been installed on the site of the future allotment gardens, insect hotels have been built and a grass path   provided for walking across the mown meadows.

A temporary exhibition called “Big-Bags” is paving the way for work on the Parc du Peuple de l’herbe project by displaying information on a very novel medium – 28 construction-material carry bags. Designed by the Conseil général based on an idea suggested by Agence TER and project scenographer Nez Haut, it presents the main features of the future park using three themesthe site today – the project – tomorrow’s park.

This natural area is a significant development opportunity that will greatly enhance the environment for the residents of Carrières.

The landscaping and ecological work is expected to finish late 2015, and the park is scheduled to open late 2016.

The SeineCityPark project is funded by the European Community under the LIFE+ programme. Of the €1.8 million grant, €1.12 million goes to support the Conseil général in the Parc du Peuple de l’herbe project.
