While work progresses on the first operational phase, trials are under way to select the most suitable plants for phyto-remediation and biomass production.

The Communauté d’Agglomération 2 Rives de Seine (CA2RS) and the Etablissement Public Foncier des Yvelines (land-management authority) are partnering a new research project called PROLIPHYT conducted by the Université de Franche Comté and the Pépinières  Daniel SOUPE nursery with funding from ADEME. The project aims to test new ornamental woody species for biomass production and phyto-remediation. A 1.3ha test plot was planted in late October 2013 on phase 1 of the Cœur vert project.
