The Ilex agency for the urban park in the future Carrières Centralité eco-district

EPAMSA and the Town of Carrières-sous-Poissy have chosen the design submitted by the Ilex (Paysage-urbanisme) agency for the urban park in the future Carrières Centralité eco-district.

This 10.5ha urban park will act as an “ecological corridor” and link up the future eco-district. It will be built in two phases: the first phase will develop the southern section by 2016 and the second section will finalise the park by 2018. Before that, there will be a consultation phase in 2014, involving local associations and residents, the Carrières-sous-Poissy council, the operators selected, the architect for the integrated development zone and EPAMSA.

Why Ilex

The strength of the proposal put forward by the Ilex group (landscape architects Ilex and Sempervirens, and subcontractors Safège and Biotope) lies in the fact that the urban park they designed links up the east and west districts. Each path across the park has platforms with different themes, creating a strong, diversified social dynamic.

In the north/south direction, the park connects up the various biotopes that make up the Seine, the Parc du Peuple de l’Herbe to the south, the balancing area to the north and the Coeur Vert.

Based on the instructions in the brief, the team designed a balanced development that turns the park’s constraints into strengths, and meets the social and ecological objectives by reconciling nature and the town. Its angle: “design the meandering park to match the town and the environments that surround it”.
